Nika de Carlo trained as a dancer for years, but after her uncle gave her a camera at 14, she fell in love with taking pictures, sending her down a different path. Beyond simply creating a beautiful photo, Nika De Carlo strives to bring a narrative quality to her work—to create a story that the viewer can connect to. She published the zine Vacancy in collaboration with hair stylist Masami Hosono, capturing the freedom that comes with just being yourself.
