Today, it’s Florida-based makeup artist Evangeline Demuro (@evangeline_gioia) and her Halloween makeup look based on the queen of gothy glamour, Morticia Addams.
Spooky and mysterious is the ultimate vibe for Halloween and no one embodies that more than Morticia Addams. The Addams Familymatriarch’s long black hair, red lips, and smoky shadow is iconic in its own right. Though Morticia’s been played by the likes of Carolyn Jones, Anjelica Huston, Catherine Zeta-Jones (and many more), the core aesthetic of the character has endured over the years.
Makeup artist Evangeline Demuro brought to life the essence of the iconic character: matriarch, romantic, and spooky hot girl. Her dark, bold makeup embodies Morticia perfectly and is relatively easy to recreate. Let Evangeline guide you through the steps in this Halloween makeup tutorial.
1. Prep + Prime

2. BrowsMorticia’s brows are bold, slim, and arched for the gods. Grab ourKUSH Brow Shadow Stickin Grind to begin gradually sketching out the shape—you’ll be going over it in a darker color later. “It’s much easier to change [if you make a mistake] than going straight to a dark brow,” says Evangeline. Once you’re done, press an angled brush into a black shadow, like our multi-useColor Chalkin Skateboard, to intensify the base shape you’ve created. (Skateboard’s got a touch of shimmer in it, which we love for Morticia’s glam.) Grab a clean brush and go around the borders of your brows with concealer to further define them. OurFuture Fluid All Over Cream Concealeris great for this, plus it leaves a skin-like finish. Blend out with our Prism Sponge. |
3. EyesApply tape to the outer corners of your eyes so the shape you’re making comes out super sharp. You’re ready to create Morticia’s signature smolder—grab the Color Chalk in Skateboard again and draw a thick wing with it using the side edge. Blend it out with a clean brush using swirling motions. Evangeline’s eye makeup tip: “Try to [focus on] the outer edges.” Then, add a sparkly shade to your lids–Evangeline uses Color Chalks in Hula Hoop and Freeze. Curl your lashes then apply a couple coats of our volumizingKUSH Mascara. Falsies are optional, but Morticia would probably love the extra drama. |
4. BaseUse Future Fluid to highlight, then underpaint your contour with ourMatte Bronzer, carving out your cheeks, forehead, and nose. Morticia’s cheekbones could cut glass: work with this in mind. Then it’s time for foundation. OurFlex Foundation Stickoffers medium coverage. Once you blend it in, go back over your contour with the bronzer again to define your face even more. Add a touch of shimmer to your cheekbones with ourHighlighter—you can use Color Chalk, too. Evangeline uses Hula Hoop and Freeze for this look. Set your face with a powder like our Pore Eclipse Matte Translucent Setting Powder. |
5. LipsA bright red lip ties your entire Morticia look together. Evangeline preps her lips withElectric Glossy Lip Plumperin Charged. Once it settles in, she wipes it off and then applies ourLip Colorin O.G. Red. Finish the entire look with a few spritzes ofHydro Grip Set + Refresh Spray. It’ll lock in your makeup for up to 12 hours and leave behind a dewy finish. Let it dry, and the transformation is complete. Enjoy a night out as Morticia—Gomez and Wednesday Addams optional. |
