At Milk Makeup, we believe it’s not just how you create your look; it’s what you do in it that matters. That’s what our motto Live Your Look is all about. It means forgetting the rules. Having the freedom to show up as you every day, whether that’s with graphic liner or a glossed lip. Being seen and celebrated for living your truth. And there's no better way for us to show what that looks like than passing the mic to our Milk Fam.
In this series, we're opening it up to our community to share their inspirations, self-expression, beauty routines, and so much more. Get to know the faces behind our campaigns who are as inspiring off camera as they are on. This week, we're getting to know Chelsea, who starred in our Hydro Ungrip Makeup Remover + Cleansing Water campaign. Find out a little bit more about the model and environmental science student.
The ideal day is any day spent outdoors. At least, that’s the answer you’d get from Chelsea, who went completely fresh-faced for our Hydro Ungrip Makeup Remover + Cleansing Water campaign. It’s true to her daily beauty aesthetic, which revolves around simple looks that allow her to speed out the door—the fewer steps, the better.
Based between New Jersey and New York, Chelsea has spent most of the past four years studying environmental science. This month, she officially graduated with her degree in Environmental Science, the most fitting field of study for someone that thrives most outside. When she’s not modeling, she’s happiest hiking, birdwatching, or riding horses—a sport she used to participate in competitively, but now enjoys “just for fun.” While she’s the consummate professional on set, she still prefers to be out of the spotlight. “I don’t like attention,” she says, a sentiment you’ll rarely hear from a Leo.
Still, Chelsea knows exactly who she is, star signs be damned. It falls right in line with the best advice she’s ever gotten—straight from her mom: “You are you, and it doesn’t matter what other people think.”
Read on for Chelsea’s thoughts on personal style, the best jeans for long legs, and the one cream blush that’s worth wearing daily.
How would you describe your personal style?Casual clothes, my Vans. I love flannels—I wear flannels all the time. And my jeans from American Eagle. That’s my number-one store; I get all of my jeans from there. The extra long because I’ve got really long legs. What’s your daily relationship with beauty?I actually use the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek almost every day, which is very cool. I put on mascara and some eyebrow gel and that’s it; then I’m out the door. It’s really simple. I used to be into eyeshadow looks and all of that, like a full face of makeup. Not anymore, I’m too tired in the morning. Besides Lip + Cheek, what’s the one Milk Makeup product you can’t live without?I tried KUSH Mascaraand used all of it. I never got around to buying more, but I want to. Which album or song are you currently listening to on repeat?I’m very into ‘70s and ‘80s music. I listen to a lot of that, especially Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles. I’m wearing my Beatles flannel right now. |
If you could have a plane ticket anywhere, where would you go?There’s so many places. I want to go to Ireland so bad—Ireland or Scotland. For my college graduation, my mom wants to take me to Ireland and Scotland. I want to go so bad. Like, graduation present? Ireland? I’m going. What’s your favorite hobby?I love hiking, the outdoors, and birdwatching. I have horses so I ride them as well. I’m a very outdoorsy person. I used to ride competitively but not anymore. Now I do it just for fun; I go on trail rides and everything. In New Jersey there are a lot of trails. It’s about an hour and a half if you drive from New York. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?Probably from my mom: Don’t let anyone judge you. Who cares what people think? Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You are you, and it doesn’t matter what other people think. Follow Chelsea on Instagram @chelseadewaal. This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity. |
