Milk Makeup's Diversity + Inclusion Commitments

At Milk Makeup, we champion beauty for all. We believe in the importance of diversity and inclusion (D&I) and are committed to being open with you on our journey to become a workplace where truly everyone can thrive. We also recognize that we will always have work to do.

In June 2020, we made 5 commitments as a team and shared them with our community along with a promise to begin work immediately and to provide an update every 6 months thereafter. This is where we are right now in our ongoing, ever-evolving process.

Thank you to our community for being with us through it all. We’re always open to hearing from you and are thankful that you’re part of the Milk Makeup Family.

#1: REPRESENT

Since June 2020, we’ve created a more diverse and inclusive hiring and interviewing practice resulting in the hiring of more individuals who identify as BIPOC. We also partnered with recruitment agencies who represent talent who identify as BIPOC.

Milk Makeup has 61 full time employees in the United States, 49.2% of them identify as BIPOC. Those team members are represented in C-Level, Senior Vice President, Vice President, Director, Manager, Generalist, and Specialist levels across the brand.

#2 EDUCATE, COMMUNICATE, TAKE ACTION

In 2022, we’ve brought on D&I consultant Dr. Atira Charles to continue to educate our leaders and workforce around inclusive leadership, creating an environment of psychological safety, and how we as an internal community can take action. Dr. C will focus on empowering the leaders of Milk Makeup to have the skills and resources necessary to lead inclusively and to be aligned with their authentic style of leadership, while also building and growing as a cohort for the purposes of career and personal development.

#3 PARTNER

In the past year, we’ve worked to build out a diverse internal content team, in addition to continuing to partner with a diverse roster of models and content creators from the BIPOC community. Out of 164 photos and videos posted on our social feeds so far in 2022, more than 50% of the people we featured identify as BIPOC.

#4 GIVE BACK

Milk Makeup remains committed to supporting and uplifting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.

We match up to $500 in charitable donations per employee per calendar year.

Additionally, we’re committed to two ongoing, 365-days-a-year donations:

1% of all milkmakeup.com sales are donated to The Center, our long-standing LGBTQIA+ partner.

1% of all milkmakeup.com sales are donated to The Fashion Scholarship Fund, fostering the next generation of BIPOC talent in beauty.

In 2022, two FSF Scholarship recipients received a paid internship with Milk Makeup and an additional $10,000 scholarship from the Milk Makeup Visionary Fund.

#5 BE ACCOUNTABLE

We are accountable to our team and our community and will continue to provide an update on our progress biannually.
