Ring the alarm: Siren eyes is the makeup trend that’s echoing through the beauty world. We’re seeing the look everywhere, from the red carpet to your “For You” page—and it’s shaping up to be one of the defining trends of 2022.
The simple eyeliner technique, which places emphasis on the wing and inner corners, gives your eyes a sultry, feline effect. Because it relies on your natural eye shape, the look works whether they’re hooded, almond, or round. A few touches of liner in the right places and strategic blending are all it takes to give your eyes a little drama. Easy-peasy.

The name "Siren" originally refers to Greek mythological creatures who have the heads of beautiful women but the bodies of large birds. They sit on rocks by the shores of small islands, singing to lure in sailors to their deaths. A siren is seductive, feminine, and a little (or a lot) dangerous—keep that in mind while you’re creating the look on your own.

What is the Siren Eyes trend?
Siren eyes isn’t necessarily a new trend, but it’s been enjoying a bump in popularity on TikTok, officially making it a thing. The vibe is simple: “sexy eyes and a bit of perfectly imperfect liner,” says Sara Wren, Global Director of Artistry.
The overall look is a combination of a classic cat eye and smudged, smoky liner. The sharpness of the wing against the blended, blown-out base lends a nice intensity to your eyes that at once feels familiar yet totally fresh.
The Siren Eyes Technique
Promise it doesn’t need to be hard—Sara’s got the siren eyes technique down pat. “Three steps and I’m ready for the club… or just to take some selfies,” she says.
1. Prep With Eye Primer
Since you’re gonna be doing a lot of lining and smudging, starting with a good base is crucial. Try applying a little bit of eye primer—like our Hydro Grip Eye Primer—to make sure your makeup doesn’t budge. Then create a soft base by applying some eye shadow or blending some liner in a shade lighter than black. Sara uses the Infinity Long Wear Eyeliner, our waterproof pencil, in a natural tone for her base. “I grabbed Infinity in Limitless to create a soft brown haze around the eyes,” she says. “I applied it in a winged shape in the inner and outer corners and buffed it in with a small shadow brush.”

2. Line + Draw Wings With Eyeliner
You want to create a frame that follows, enhances, and lifts your natural eye shape. Start by lining the inner and outer corners of your eyes. You don’t have to completely cover your waterline—some of the TikTok set leave the middle part bare. That blank space opens up your eye a bit and emphasizes the outer and inner corner liner you’ll add next.
Once your waterline is done, make a small wing on the outer corner of your eye. The key is to draw it so it goes out instead of up—again, this helps extend the eye shape for that shadowy siren look. It doesn’t have to be perfect, ‘cause you’re gonna smudge it out later, but if you’re unhappy with it, you can always tweak it with a little bit of micellar water, like our Hydro Ungrip Makeup Remover + Cleansing Water.
You can use any color for this look, but Sara recommends a classic black liner to bring out the shape of your eyes. “For the wing, I went in with Infinity Liner In Outer Space—it’s the perfect deep black liner for this look.”

3. Blend With a Smudger
Once your look is drawn on, give it all the smoke. Use a smudger or makeup brush to blend out the wing so it gets that really diffused look. (Our Infinity Eyeliner has a built-in smudger which makes this easy.) For extra dramatic effect, use your finger or a Q-tip to stretch the wing out a bit. Repeat for the inner corner of your eye by blending towards the nose so you get that extra long, feline eye effect.
To round out the look, double-down on the drama with a super thick lash courtesy of our KUSH Mascara. Sara likes the way it volumizes. “I finished with some drama—AKA KUSH Mascara—really focusing the majority of the application on the outer corner of the lash so it adds to that siren shape.”
And that’s it! You’ve mastered siren eyes. Sailors and other mortals, beware. If you want more makeup inspiration, check 23 more eyeliner looks to try.
